Vodafone Launches New Tariff Plans for Overseas Mobile Broadband

Vodafone, currently the only mobile broadband service provider in the UK offering overseas roaming packages for mobile broadband, has announced new tariffs for the service.

Vodafone has withdrawn its current overseas mobile broadband plans, which were the “Euro Travel” (at £60 each month), and “Travel” (at £95 each month).

Starting 1st July, new tariffs will be introduced. These tariffs have been worked out on the basis of geographical location, data usage, and whether the connection is through a 3G handset or a mobile broadband dongle.

The new packages pricing is according to three zones – Zone 1 is “Europe“, where data usage of 50MB costs £9.99. Zone 2 is called “World”, where the first and every subsequent 50 MB costs £29.99. For Zone 3, which includes distant places like South America and some regions of Asia and Africa, every MB costs £4.99. Prices are calculated from midnight to midnight, British time, to avoid any confusion due to change in time zones.

These new plans are perfect for staying connected to the mobile internet abroad, so if this is something you do, click here for free laptops info. However, the tariffs are so designed that they are economical only for light weight browsing and checking email; downloading big files is likely to cause huge broadband bills. To avoid nasty tariff-related surprises, Vodafone notifies the user every time he/she consumes each slot of 50 MB data.

Overall, these overseas mobile broadband travel packages are great for users who want to stay connected through their email and social networking
